Aftermarket shipment visibility across road, rail, ocean, and air

The customer: A multi-billion dollar automotive OEM

The challenge: For a complex enterprise with more than 200,000 parts and 400 outbound trucks to manage every day, achieving a 98% part-replenishment target within a 24-hour window is no easy feat. It’s especially challenging when the full supply chain involves rail carriers and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments as well. However, it's a necessity when you’re a vital supplier for a large dealer and distribution network. To ensure success, the ideal platform would need to aggregate and normalize data from many fragmented systems and sources and present it in a single streamlined interface. Real-time ETA data, data integration with internal systems, and simple training and rollout are also must-have features.

The FreightVerify solution:

FreightVerify tackled the challenge by onboarding the OEM’s truck, LTL, intermodal, and rail carriers to its platform, which instantly improved shipment tracking. The OEM didn’t just gain a real-time view of its entire supply network; it also gained new capabilities in understanding failure occurrences per location, carrier, and provider type. These insights allowed the OEM to proactively address any operational challenges that would affect replenishment goals. FreightVerify’s solution introduced geofencing capabilities that provided precise insight into shipment locations across distribution centers, suppliers, cross docks, and carrier terminals.

The results:

With a new world of data presented in an easy-to-use interface, the OEM was able to analyze and optimize its replenishment times and overall supply-chain network performance. Thanks to FreightVerify’s platform, the OEM quickly identified opportunities for efficiency and savings across LTL, rail, truck, and multi-modal transportation networks. The result was vastly improved Material Requirements Planning (MRP) capabilities, and these early successes led to further adoption and integration. The OEM expanded FreightVerify’s platform across its global footprint, adopting real-time visibility applications for ocean and air shipments. FreightVerify proved it could be depended upon, and the result was an even bigger role in the OEM’s mission-critical systems.
